This project takes the backyard resort to a new level, with multiple areas throughout the space to entertain friends and enjoy scenic sunsets over Mt. Diablo. The pool features bubblers which mask outside noise with the soothing sound of splashing water. The owner's guests enjoy a beverage or meal while keeping cool at the swim up bar, while the hosts man the built-in grill and pizza oven in the shade under the large pavilion. When the weather cools off in the evening, the large in-ground spa, the outdoor firepit, or comfortable seating in the pavilion all provide relaxing spaces to wind up the day.
The project design features include a 65’ x 38’ main pool which spills over an infinity edge feature into a secondary wading pool. A large boulder water feature with multiple stream beds leading into the pool. Other features include 50 specimen live oak trees and a zero edge feature on the wading pool.
The client envisioned a design that captured Early California with elements reminiscent of the gold mining era. The finished project includes: a “cowboy cabin” style pavilion with distressed beams and stone counters, a tube slide with dilapidated mine shaft entry into the pool, a mine shaft outdoor shower built into the backside of the water features, and underwater boulder formations. Multiple water features including a gold panning creek and treasures, such as arrow heads and gold coins and nuggets, affixed and hidden throughout the pool, complete the ultra rustic feel.
